Description: When the idea to build a small distillery came to mind and the planning was underway, Black Galley was going to be a vodka and Gin distillery. The founder, Lloyd Chambers explained, "It was my son who came up with the idea of rum. "Dad, with a name like Black Galley, you have to make rum, it's perfect!"" So began the process of turning a small unassuming space in an industrial strip mall into one of New Brunswick's great little distilleries making delightful single cask rum. Using a small column still producing about 20-25 liters per run Black Galley is churning out ex-bourbon cask at a slow but very steady pace. The first few releases are all from small 25 liter ex-bourbon casks from Tin Cup but soon the releases will be from larger 200L American standard barrels which Chambers has been filling for the last year. I'm very excited to follow the progress of Black Galley and will be checking back soon! 

Rum Products: Small batch, single barrel rum series. ABV varies per batch.

-Canadian Law requires that rum produced in Canada be at least 1 year of age, matured in oak. Many producers will give their “white rum” that doesn’t meet this requirement an alternate name so to not fall afoul of this law. Please read terms like Molasses Brandy, Rum Spirit, Molasses Spirit, etc…in this context.
